Interaction Systems
Exploration Process
Equity Systems are designed to be used in real world scenarios, to allow all people in a community to equitably access their needs. These systems need to be carefully designed to ensure safety, sustainability, and equity. This exploration space allows members to share their ideas and systems to address potential risks before being recommended for public adoption.
Pick a Necessary or Interaction System to explore. You can join in the feedback of an existing exploration or, if you see a gap in the systems, you can create your own exploration. This is an iterative process, so don’t worry about getting everything right immediately. The purpose of the Exploration space is to allow these ideas to be shared while in progress.
Exploration Best Practice
The best starting point for any exploration is to look at our existing systems and to explore how they would function if you replace the ownership systems with the foundational Equity Contract. This contract defines the legal requirements for people to access and labor towards the Necessary Systems equitably.
You can use this Exploration Template as a starting point.
You can use this System Glossary to understand the systems.

Feedback Process
Once an exploration is published, it is open to the ETC for feedback. To keep this process focused and constructive, there are only three types of feedback:
- Questions provide an opportunity to fill in gaps in the exploration and provide context to decisions made, allowing everyone to have a better understand of the exploration. Before providing feedback, audiences should read through all questions first to avoid feedback duplication.
- Risks are potential hazards introduced as a result of the exploration. Explorations cannot be adopted into the Catalog if there are urgent risks that have not been addressed within the exploration or referenced in another exploration.
- Opportunities are potential benefits that can improve the exploration. Explorations can be adopted without addressing all opportunities, as they can be addressed by additional explorations without compromising the value of the current exploration.
- Explorations do have a higher chance of being adopted with additional value added to the exploration through integrated opportunities.
All feedback shared is also subject to feedback. Feedback that is not relevant or constructive to the exploration will be removed.
Approval Process
Once an exploration has addressed all risks and has successfully articulated it’s value to the community, the ETC Representatives will vote to adopt the system. Necessary Systems require a super majority (>66%) approval to be adopted. Interaction Systems require a simple majority (>50%) approval to be adopted.
The approval process is currently blocked until enough qualified members join the ETC to provide expert opinions in their respective field.
Sandbox Community
Because this coop is a prototype, this exploration will be towards a Sandbox Community. While this community is hypothetical, it should provide baseline data for feasible equity systems that can be adapted for real communities today.
Sandbox Community Conditions
- 10 Million People
- 5 Million Laborers
- 2.5 Million Dependents
- 2.5 Million Retirees
- Pennsylvania Land
- Pennsylvania Resources
- Pennsylvania Residences
This sandbox only uses the land, resources, and existing residential structures from Pennsylvania for placeholder data. Existing Pennsylvania laws are not applicable to the sandbox and it’s explorations. We are using an existing community for our sandbox to have a comparison for measuring transition impact.
When the ETC needs to operate on real communities, we need to balance the benefits and impacts of transitioning systems. While the effects of transition economic beliefs will have profound impact on everything, the physical impact can be mitigated to ensure the safety of people impacted.
Pennsylvania is not affiliated with the ETC Prototype, nor are any explorations and equity systems defined by the ETC Prototype Catalog prescribed for economic transition for Pennsylvania.
