System Brief

The Labor Scalar is a contract feature to maintain equity between different labor requirements that may be naturally inequitable due to hazardous or undesirable conditions.

Justification

  • Necessary Systems
    • This supports all necessary systems that has inequitably hazardous or undesirable labor.
  • Quality of Life
    • This improves the quality of life for people performing this inequitable labor.
  • Sustainability
    • No immediate impacts.

System Function

The Labor Scalar amends the labor hours for a specific labor position, not for a specific person.

  • The default Labor Scalar is 1.
  • Amended Labor Scalars values the labor hour to that scalar. A 1.2 Labor Scalar values 1 hour of labor as 1.2 hours towards the laborer’s CLO.

The Healthcare Committee will establish a Labor Safety Committee to regulate the safety conditions of all labor positions in the community. Labor found to be too hazardous to perform equitably can have their labor hours amended to offset the inequitable hazard those people may experience.

The Logistics Committee will establish a Labor Prioritization Committee to regulate the labor demands of the community. Labor that is in high demand due to emergencies or recruitment difficulties can temporarily amend the labor hours to offset the immediate demand for emergencies or labor gaps.

The Governance Committee will establish a Contract Enforcement Committee to ensure all community members are abiding to their contract obligations. Violations of the contract may result in civil punishment. Including, but not limited to, a temporary amended labor scalar.

System Output

  • All labor positions must notify the laborer what the Labor Scalar is.
  • If a labor scalar has been amended, reason must be given.
    • If the scalar was amended for hazardous reasons, the Healthcare Committee must inform all laborers, and prospects, of the health risks while performing this labor.
